People who work outdoors have a higher-than-average risk of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland with 13,000 cases diagnosed annually.
The HSA in conjunction with the Construction Safety Partnership Advisory Committee has developed a short information sheet for employees to highlight the dangers of working outdoors when the UV index is higher than 3. This information sheet can be downloaded here.
